1. Elections

The following
were elected unanimously (unopposed)

On behalf of the outgoing board, I congratulate the new board and wish them
the very best for the upcoming year!

2. Outside funding for Spring Picnic
There are no funds available right now. Wells Fargo could be approached but
there is too little time. Bank of American cannot sponsor. As of now we
will not be having a Spring Picnic. We might have something else around the
same time.

3. Speed limit signs
Papers are with the authorities. Posting signs is not easy - requires
paperwork, etc. Officer Donovan is pursuing this with the concerned
officials. It was also mentioned that we might not be able to have speed
limit signs in all areas.

4. Bicyles
Bike safety class will be held in May after finals. Awareness of bike rules
is very low. Bicyclists can also get ticketed and fines are steep. General
rules to be followed by bicyclists will be posted in the next newsletter

5. Suggestion from resident
Reminder about events could be posted on the mailing list a couple of days
before the event. This will hopefully increase participation. The UACC
mailing list can be used for this. If you know someone who would like to be
on this list, please ask them to send a mail to the list maintainer
(currently me, but ownership will be transferred to the new secretary)

6. UPD Bike Rodeo was cancelled for the weekend of April 6 because of lack
of man-power (officers were deputed for Parents Weekend). This has been
rescheduled to May 10.

7. Earth Day
(As this event is already over, I am not including details)

8. Cover letter and resume writing workshop
Workshop is on April 24, 7pm at in Room 4. (coming Thursday)
Only 20 people are allowed. Please register with Maria if interested

9. Child safety
Logs around garden plots have been treated with hazardous chemicals. They
are not that hazardous - touching won't necessarily cause problems, but
children should avoid them. The railroad ties are very old. There are lots
of fire ants around garden plots. Children should avoid ant hills around
these areas.

10. Cox cable problems
Cox switched channels a while back without notifying the university or the
residents. The concerned officials are talking with Cox to fix the
problems.

11. Cleanliness of apartments
. Drive will start with Avenue A.
. There will be more bike racks in Ball St. Area
--> Bikes in hallways are violations of apartment living rules
. Racks may be provided in front of Ave. A apartments for shoes, plants,
etc. This is still in discussion stage and will also look into having these
in other areas.
. Suggestions: Pots can be allowed under the windows in Ave. A. If it is
not a fire hazard it should be ok. (Note: This is not necessarily the
official stand and pots kept under windows may be considered
violations. Please check with apt. office first)
. Residents should inform the office if a child gets hurt or if there are
any other problems due to things being left outside apartments.
. Garden plots - waterning cans should not be left near the plots. They
will be removed if found.
. Dumpster doors are being left open causing problems for nearby
apartments. It was suggested that a notice be put on the dumpsters
requesting residents to close them.
. Extra furniture that residents want to dipose off can be given to the
Salvation Army and other such charity organizations. Information about this
will be put in the next newsletter

12. Power outages.
There was a Hensel power outage for more than 21 hours. It was suggested
that maintenance should assume the worst case when advising residents of
possible duration of power outage, so residents can take appropriate action
w.r.t. food stuff in the refrigerator, etc.

13. Insects
One resident complained that beetles ate through plastic to get to
vegetables. There are also lots of ants around. Resident wanted to know if
there are any regular treatment plans.
Maintenance office can be requested to put apartment on regular pest
control program.

14. Noise outside bedrooms
Resident complained that babies are not able to sleep because of children
playing outside. If this happens during evening time, there is nothing that
can be done, except asking the parents to be more considerate.

15. Cable outlets in Hensel
One resident mentioned that 2 notices were put, first one last July, about
installation of second outlet. Nothing has been done so far. Apt. office
will look into this.
Every Hensel apartment should have 2 cable outlets.
