The following issues have been discussed during the meeting:

1. Replacements for officers, elections
Prakash will be leaving the UACC from September 1. Vinod, Marcel and Katia
will be graduating (hopefully!) next Spring and hence wont be able to
devote enough time to UACC in Spring.
Various options for coming up with a solution were discussed including
having early elections. But there is no provision for early elections in
our constitution. It was also felt that the next committee should be in
place while the present committee can still help with the transition.
After looking at various possibilities, it was decided that Katia will take
over as president from Sep. 1 when Prakash leaves. She, in her capacity as
acting president, will nominate a temporary vice-president to take her
place from Sep. 1. In Spring, the acting VP will take over as president
from Katia and can nominate members for the other posts to replace Katia,
Marcel and Vinod. Elections will be held as per the constitution in April
of next year.
The above "solution" is in line with our constitution without requiring
any amendment.

2. Trips during Thanksgiving weekend
The possibility of having a day-trip during the Thanksgiving weekend was
discussed. Possible places to visit include : NASA, Houston Zoo, Moody
Gardens (Galveston), Natural Bridge Caverns/Wildlife ranch/Enchanted Rock
(New Braunfels), Houston Museum/Butterfly park/IMAX
Several residents have also asked Maria if a trip to the outlet mall in
San Marcos could be arranged. This is also an option although having this
during the Thanksgiving weekend might not be a good idea because of the
rush of shoppers during that time.

3. Fliers for the upcoming Recognition Party were distributed to those
present for further distribution to all apartments. As of this writing,
all of them should have been put up on all apartments.
Unmil updated us on the status of the pizzas for the party (see his other
email about the invoice). Pizzas will be picked up in two batches, one at
3pm and another at 4pm.
We have some left over money which has to be spent before this Friday. The
possibility of buying a DVD player and DVDs for the community center was
looked into. Most members present felt it would be a good idea, but Maria
has subsequently informed us (see her earlier email) that it might not be
a good idea. Buying books for the community center library was also
proposed. Other items which might be useful to the UACC are another
option. Suggestions are welcome before Friday.
